Randy Zook, Board President
President and CEO of the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce and Associated Industries of Arkansas
A native of McGehee, Arkansas, Mr. Randy Zook graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. Before serving as deputy director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC), he spent nearly 34 years with Atlantic Envelope
Company of Atlanta, serving as president and CEO of the $200 million company from 1989 to 2004. After his retirement, he began his second career involved in economic development efforts. In 2006, he served as chairman of the Central Ozarks Task Force for Economic Development and currently serves as a member of the Melbourne Airport Commission.
Brent Black, Board Vice-President
Chief Financial Officer of Summit Bank
Mr. Brent Black is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Summit Bank in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, after previously serving in the same role for Southern Bancorp. Mr. Black graduated from Ouachita Baptist University with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), he has five years of Auditor experience and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants. Heavily involved in his community, Black is also a Board Member/Trustee of Community Development Bankers Association, Board Member of the Arkadelphia Wesley Foundation and Secretary of Arkadelphia Rotary. He was also a member of the Arkansas State Chamber Leadership Class.
Stacy Sells, Board Secretary
Senior Vice-President of Strategic Planning at Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods (CJRW)
Ms. Stacy Sells has been a tireless advocate for improving education and economic development in our state for many years, serving leadership roles on boards ranging from the Arkansas Blue Ribbon Commission on Public Education to the state Chamber of Commerce. She has become known as an opinion leader in the public education reform movement at the state and national levels. Ms. Sells was named Child Advocate of the Year by Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families and received the Humanitarian Award from Hendrix College for her work in education reform.
Sam Commella
Vice-President and General Manager of Nucor Steel
Mr. Sam Commella is Vice-President of one of the largest
sheet steel mills in the country, Nucor Steel, based in Blytheville, Arkansas.
His company has been one of KIPP Blytheville’s biggest supporters as we expand
to serve students in northwest Arkansas. Mr. Commella also serves on the Board
of Directors for Associated Industries of Arkansas and is a member of the Arkansas
State Chamber of Commerce.
Chalk Mitchell
City Attorney
Mr. Chalk Mitchell grew up in Helena, Arkansas, and graduated from Eliza Miller
High School before pursing his undergraduate degree at Morehouse College and
graduate degrees at both Georgetown University Law Center and Harvard
University. He is currently Helena’s City Attorney. He serves on the board
of several community groups in his hometown and recently completed his term as
chair of KIPP Delta’s Board of Directors.
Ron Nurnberg
Executive Director of Teach For America (TFA) in the Mississippi Delta
Mr. Ron Nurnberg has presided over the expansion of the Delta corps from 32
corps members in 1996 to 520 in the 2010-2011 school year. Prior to
joining TFA, Mr. Nurnberg completed a master's degree in southern studies at
the University of Mississippi. He also served as executive director of Main
Street Helena, project coordinator for the Center of Southern Culture in Oxford
and Vicksburg, assistant director of Central College's American Program at
Trinity College in Carmarthen, Wales, and operated a highly successful pub and
restaurant business in St. Louis. His undergraduate degree is in business
administration and interpersonal communications.
Andre Valley
Attorney
Mr. Andre Valley grew up in Helena and received both his undergraduate and law
degrees from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Mr. Valley currently
practices law in Helena. In his previous role as City Attorney, he was instrumental
in helping KIPP Delta navigate city ordinances and zoning restrictions as we executed
our campus expansion.
