Campus Security Upgrades

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

I hope all of you enjoyed a long MLK weekend!  Providing a safe learning environment for our team and family is important to us.  In the wake of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary in Connecticut, our Board of Directors recently charged us with making improvements at each of our campuses to increase security. The improvements include building upgrades and the introduction of new safety procedures.
Some specific changes that you may notice include:

  • The construction of an additional doorway in our gym reception area to better control access to our high school and middle school campuses.
  • The construction of a gate on our elementary campus to better control access to our 4th grade corridor.
  • Computerized parent and visitor check-in procedures on all campuses.
  • All visitors and parents will be greeted by and accompanied to their destination by a KIPP Delta staff member.

Each one of these changes is designed to increase the safety and security of our team and family and especially our children. Our commitment to safe access to our campuses must be complemented by procedures which ensure unauthorized individuals do not gain access to our buildings and our children.
If you have any questions or concerns about the security upgrades we are implementing please don’t hesitate to contact me.  Thanks again for all you do and all of your support.
