Development Director Job Description

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Development Director (DD) is responsible for all fundraising efforts for the region while also building the structures to support a growing network of schools, meeting aggressive goals.  Working closely with other senior leaders and Board members, the DD will develop and execute against a strategic and diversified development plan including individual, corporate and foundation sources.  In addition, the DD will have primary responsibility for establishing processes and structures to manage significant fundraising efforts, including implementing processes to track and monitor all fundraising efforts, identifying areas for operational improvements and efficiencies, implementing effective public relations and communication strategies and establishing best practices throughout the department. 

 Primary Responsibilities:

• Create and execute strategic plans for fundraising and  public relations across the KIPP Delta network
• Build and manage a team to support development and PR work
• Manage fundraising and PR efforts for the Board of Directors and Executive Director (e.g., arranging presentations, meetings, and correspondence)
• Manage Development Associate(s) and coordinate the work of the local development councils
• Secure state and federal funding, grants, and waivers to state regulations as needed
• Write grant proposals and reports for foundations
• Cultivate and solicit major individual and corporate donors
• Develop process of Donor Recognition or acknowledgement
• Write fundraising reports for local development council and Board of Directors
• Assist the Executive Director with long-term growth plans for district

Secondary Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison to the KIPP Foundation’s development, marketing, recruiting, and media teams
• Manage branding, graphic design, and promotional materials needs for the district, including annual reports
• Manage donor database
• Write and distribute email newsletters

The Development Director must demonstrate knowledge of, and support the KIPP Delta Public School’s mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
