KIPP Students to Spend Summer in Northeast

KIPP Delta Public Schools is proud to announce that three students from the Class of 2018 have earned the opportunity to attend the KIPP STEP summer program at Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts. Abdul Sani and Hannah Holmes of KIPP Blytheville College Preparatory School and Rachel Murdock of KIPP Delta College Preparatory School are three of forty rising eighth graders from across the nation who were chosen through a competitive application process. KIPP STEP (Success Through Enrichment Program) was designed to give high-achieving students at KIPP middle schools across the country an introduction to the rigorous academics, diverse social opportunities, and structured residential life of a top tier boarding high school. During this three week program there will be an emphasis on science and English Language Arts, with the intent of developing students’ skills in research, writing, presentation, discussion, studying, time management, and critical thinking. The program also aims to spark a passion for science in students through the intensive Physics and Biology focus. The KIPP STEP Summer Program is intentionally designed for academically strong, intellectually curious students who exhibit character, personal responsibility, independence, leadership, and teamwork.
